How to Record your Podcast under 100$
Alright, you’re starting your own Podcast and that’s awesome.
You need to choose some recording gear and we believe that good content should be delivered with the best audio quality possible.
Last time we saw how you can start a podcast with a $55 budget. If you have a little more money to spend, your audio recording quality will increase. So let’s see what you can get with a $100 budget.
1. A Podcast Microphone
Unlike last time, when our research found a clear winner for the best podcast microphone under $50, this time we ended up with two that we really like:
Samson C01 Pro
Both are good microphones and have been used by podcasters extensively. You can buy either one of them and you’re good to go.
But if we had to choose one, we’d go with the Samson C01 Pro.
We choose the Samson because it’s a supercardioid microphone, which means it’s more directional than the Audio-Technica. This will allow you to reject background noise more efficiently.
Some other good things about this microphone include the fact that:
✓ It’s an USB Microphone, which means that you don’t have to spend more money on extra
gear to connect it to your computer. USB cable comes included;
✓ It’s a large diaphragm condenser microphone. These types of microphones are appropriate for vocals, as they tend to enrich and warm its tone. Following the same logic, they can also record musical instruments with great results.
✓ Has a solid metal build;
Don’t record yourself without a pop-filter. Pops make you sound unprofessional. This is what a ‘pop‘ sounds like:
Avoid this by putting a pop-filter in front of your microphone.
3. Mic Stand (Optional)
The Samson C01U PRO comes with a small desktop stand, so you don’t really have to buy any stand.
However, to have more flexibility over your microphone position, buy either a stand that attaches to your table (pictured above) or a regular microphone stand (useful if you’re going to record music instruments).
4. Recording and Editing Software
Download Audacity for recording and editing. It’s free.
Total: 99.98 dollars
