This is a pattern I haven\u2019t seen before. Other frequencies didn\u2019t behave like this.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is the first, out of all the<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">&#8220;Theta<\/mark>Sessions&#8221; (starting from <a href=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/brain-waves-while-listening-to-theta-isochronic-tones-nex19\/\">Session 19<\/a>), that does <em>not<\/em> have<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">Theta<\/mark>as the second dominant force and instead has<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta.<\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It&#8217;s hard to find sessions with such high<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>dominance in the <em>All Sensors<\/em> section, especially if I&#8217;m not being engaged with mental effort (which I wasn&#8217;t at all during this session). Therefore, I am strongly inclined to attribute this behavior to the entrainment track, even if it&#8217;s not focused on<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>entrainment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let&#8217;s see what else we can find.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">All Sensors (Gamma and Beta Isolated)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Taking a closer look at<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>and<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma,<\/mark> we can see more clearly the gradual decrease in energy, then a sudden boost to seemingly start the process all over again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As I said, I have not seen this type of brainwave activity in any of the previous sessions, and am not sure at this point the meaning of this behavior.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Front Sensors (AF7, AF8)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The described behavior of <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>and<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark> clearly comes from the <strong>Front<\/strong> part of the brain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>Front-Left <\/strong>sensor (<strong>AF7<\/strong>), shown below, that same behavior can be visually identified.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Another thing that can also be identified is the very large<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Delta<\/mark>oscillations. \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This is likely caused by blinking, even if it&#8217;s not present symmetrically in the <strong>Front<\/strong> sensors. Asymmetrical blinking detection has been observed in <a href=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/brain-waves-when-blinking\/\">other sessions<\/a>, so it&#8217;s an expected phenomenon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While completely different, I have observed uncommon<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Delta<\/mark>behavior in AF7 before (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/brain-waves-while-listening-to-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-nex24\/\">Session 24<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-07_v02.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"529\" src=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-07_v02-1024x529.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3473\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-07_v02-1024x529.webp 1024w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-07_v02-300x155.webp 300w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-07_v02-768x397.webp 768w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-07_v02-600x310.webp 600w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-07_v02-280x145.webp 280w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-07_v02-1036x535.webp 1036w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-07_v02.webp 1516w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the <strong>Front-Right<\/strong> sensor (<strong>AF8<\/strong>), shown below, it&#8217;s also possible to see how much<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>and<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark> contributed to the previously described behavior \u2014 starting in a high place of dominance, decreasing, jumping back up again, and then starting to decrease again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relevant is also the big jump in<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark>energy at around 12:36, going from 0 dB to about 80 dB \u2014 that&#8217;s a very large jump. \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Again \u2014could this be explained by blinking or muscle tension?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even though that spike was detected in all sensors, different kinds of brainwave frequencies were boosted primarily. For instance, in the <strong>Back<\/strong>,<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Alpha,<\/mark><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">Theta<\/mark>and<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Delta<\/mark>were boosted but<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>and<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark> barely moved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As of now, the meaning of this behavior remains unknown to me.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-08_v02.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"526\" src=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-08_v02-1024x526.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3474\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-08_v02-1024x526.webp 1024w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-08_v02-300x154.webp 300w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-08_v02-768x395.webp 768w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-08_v02-600x308.webp 600w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-08_v02-280x144.webp 280w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-08_v02-1036x532.webp 1036w, https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eeg-session-26-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-08_v02.webp 1532w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Does Dominance Change Over Time?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The graphs shown below show how&nbsp;<em>dominant&nbsp;<\/em>frequencies were across the session, in %.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I will group the activity into three groups, based on their behavior similarity \u2014 <strong>Front-Left<\/strong> (AF7), <strong>Front-Right<\/strong> (AF8), and <strong>Back<\/strong> (TP9, TP10).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In all three groups,<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>initially decreases 40% in dominance,<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark>decreases 60% in dominance, and then they stabilize. Additionally:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Front-Left (AF7)<\/strong> is where<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>and<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark> show the highest dominance levels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>Front-Right (AF8)<\/strong> is where<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>and<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark>exhibit a different behavior, by rising again in dominance by the end of the session.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>and<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark>increased exclusively in <strong>AF8<\/strong> in the previous <a href=\"https:\/\/sinewavelab.com\/sonofields\/brain-waves-while-listening-to-theta-audiovisual-entrainment-nex25\/\">Session 25<\/a>. Is this a pattern emerging?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Alpha<\/mark>increases 80% in dominance in the <strong>Front-Left (AF7)<\/strong> and 50% in <strong>Front-Right (AF8)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, in absolute numbers,<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Alpha<\/mark> dominance is still higher in <strong>AF8<\/strong>. This, coupled with lower <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Beta<\/mark>and<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark> dominance, indicates the <strong>Front-Right<\/strong> brain has less activation and the <strong>Front-Left<\/strong> brain has more activation. This state has been associated with positive mood and emotions, and more motivation \u2705 <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">Theta<\/mark>shows some dominance increase across all brain quadrants \u2014 in some, in a more sustained way than in others. However,<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">Theta<\/mark>dominance is more interesting to me in the <strong>Front<\/strong> than in the <strong>Back<\/strong>, so let&#8217;s take a closer look.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the <strong>Front-Right (AF8)<\/strong> there is a 33% increase in dominance that is not sustained by the end of the session.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>Front-Left (AF7)<\/strong> there is a 275% increase in dominance that is sustained.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increased<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">Theta<\/mark> dominance (better if associated with increased<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma<\/mark>dominance as well<sup data-fn=\"e9f73f47-3e96-446e-8bda-5a168b711e29\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#e9f73f47-3e96-446e-8bda-5a168b711e29\" id=\"e9f73f47-3e96-446e-8bda-5a168b711e29-link\">1<\/a><\/sup>) in the front is associated with the <em>Frontal Midline Theta<\/em> rhythm, prefrontal-cortex activation, attention, focus, memory, and meditative states. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a Occasionally, we find that certain centers of gravity develop a <em>trend over time<\/em>, and that&#8217;s always interesting to investigate further with additional graphs. For this session, we have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the front part of the brain, the is a moment where<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Alpha&#8217;s<\/mark>center of gravity shifts from the left more towards the center, as indicated by the rectangles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the left hemisphere, there is a moment where<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gamma&#8217;s<\/mark>center of gravity shifts from the front more towards the center, as indicated by the rectangles.
