Brain waves while listening to Theta Isochronic Tones (NEX21)

This page contains the data and analysis of a brain wave recording session I did using a Muse EEG Headband.

Session Characteristics

• 09/11/2023, 14:22
• During this session, I was testing an advanced Theta isochronic tones track I created.
• I was listening to the track with my eyes closed.

Key Insights

• + 58%Thetadominance
• + 29%Alphadominance
• + 20%Deltadominance

All Sensors

• Very highAlphadominance is to be expected since this is a relaxed session with my eyes closed.
• Thetahas second-place dominance across most of the session, however, this is most likely due to me being in a calm state than it is a result of entrainment. So we’ll have to keep looking for clearer entrainment signs elsewhere.
• There is a tight band ofTheta,Beta,and Delta in the middle, which is similar to Session 19.
• Gammaloses energy and dominance over time.

Right, Back (TP10)

• Looking at the Right, Back quadrant, a sign of entrainment is shown ✅
• I’m referring to the behavior of theGammafrequency range — an oscillating sinusoidal pattern with sustained and consistent peaks and valleys.
• Similar effects have been observed in Session 19.

• Similarly to Session 19, we can also observe lots of phase synchronization betweenGammaandBeta(peaks and valleys align).

How Did Dominance Percentages Change Over Time?

The graphs shown below show how dominant frequencies were across the session, in %.

• Here are the most important insights:
• The trend forGammaandBetawas to lose dominance across all sensors, throughout the session.
• Alphamaintained stable dominance across all sensors, except for Front-Right (AF8) where it went from 34% dominance to 44% dominance, which corresponds to a 29% increase. This, coupled with the previous bullet point, indicates an idling increase in this brain quadrant.
• Deltamaintained stable dominance across all sensors, except for Front-Left (AF7) where it went from 15% dominance to 18% dominance, which corresponds to a 20% increase.
• Thetain the Front (AF7, AF8), specifically in the Front-Left (AF7) quadrant, going from 12% to 19% dominance, corresponding to a 58% increase. In the Front-Right (AF8), about a 20% increase. However, this increase in dominance is a direct consequence ofGammaandBetadescreasing in energy, and notThetaincreasing (it remained stable in energy levels). So this might not be all that significant.
